a Leadership Giver
 Our
community needs your leadership. Through United Way's
Leadership Giving program, you can actively influence
the vision of a stronger, healthier southeast Michigan
community.
Your contribution of $1,000 or more will help us address
key, regional issues in lasting ways. Giving to United
Way is the most powerful way to make a difference in
our community. Our focus goes beyond
raising funds; we're raising hopes, creating opportunities
and changing lives.
Special Leadership Giving
Programs
United Way has established two programs to recognize
the significant leadership contributions African Americans
and women make to our community. You may elect to be
recognized in one or both initiatives.
Virgil H. Carr Society
Named for the former president and CEO of
United Way Community Services, the Society was created
to increase and recognize the number of African Americans
contributing at the Leadership level. In addition
to membership recognition, you can choose to support
the Society's School Attendance Initiative by
targeting all or a portion of your contribution.
Women's Initiative
The Women's Initiative engages individuals
to focus their time, talent and financial gifts to
improve early childhood literacy rates in Detroit
and southeastern Michigan. In addition to membership
recognition, you can choose to support the group's
Early Childhood Literacy Program by targeting all
or a portion of your contribution.
Tocqueville Society
The Tocqueville Society Major Gifts and Recognition
Program is designed to involve and deepen the understanding,
commitment and support of high wealth individuals to
United Way. Membership in the Society is granted to
individuals who contribute at least $10,000 annually
to the United Way.
