UW Metro Detroit Katrina
Relief Website is Launched
katrina.uwsem.org
During a meeting with local government
and service provider organizations, a need was determined
for a web site that could organize information about
relief efforts in the area, and make it available
to evacuees, other service providers and individuals
interested in contributing to the relief effort.
The Southeast Michigan Hurricane Katrina Relief website
gives service providers an online form to add their
relief efforts information into a searchable database.
Information is verified by United Way Tel-Help staff
for accuracy and then automatically uploaded to the
website. This automation allows for the dissemination
real-time information in a quick and efficient manner.

United Way Launches UW
Metro Detroit Katrina Listserv
The Hurricane Katrina Listserv is a vehicle by which
people and organizations looking to provide evacuee
relief can post and receive breaking news and information,
as well as ask questions that will be made available
to a number of public, private and non-profit organizations
working to provide aid to evacuees.
Over the next few weeks, we expect information on
the listserv, which will also include appropriate
attachments and web links, to be sent out daily. Should
there be pressing or critical information, it will
be distributed immediately.
If youre sending out press releases, have breaking
news or other information, or would like to post a
question, please forward to them to crisis.response@uwsem.org.
