Community Energy Initiative
The Community Energy Initiative Group (CEIG) convened
for the first time in October 2005 to develop a more
coordinated regional response to the substantial increase
in home energy costs. Collectively, CEIG members
are working to ensure that all metro Detroit residents
survive the winter safely.

Ethical Athlete Award
The Ethical Athlete Award presented a $5,000 higher
education grant to a high school senior athlete showing
exemplary behavior in facing issues of moral, ethical
or legal consequence.

Responding Locally to
a Global Economy
More than 100 participants from the United States and
Canada, including public, private and nonprofit representatives,
attended a summit, Responding Locally in
a Global Economy, Wednesday, April 5.
The summit's purpose was to discuss and work toward
developing proactive strategies that will ultimately
help communities critically impacted by continual reductions
and restructuring of the manufacturing industry.
